He loves it. He is only 9months, but he loves the fire, the nature, going for walks, watching dad play disc golf and so on. He loves... the sleeping thing is an issue, even at 9mo. ;) We cannot wait for next year and hope he will enjoy it at a year and half...

Re: Camping with a toddler

yes, i take benadryl each time i go camping. ive been taking my 3 kids camping since before they could walk, sometimes every other weekend in the summer (im in california near big sur).. i give it to the kids and i take it too. not only do they not sneeze, but it knocks them out so my husband and i can drink wine by the fire alone..

Re: Camping with a toddler

So happy to see you venturing out to do something like this with your young daughter. I have tried once with my 3, going to my brother's campground and it was alot of fun. (I wish their dad could have come with us). We had the luxury of staying in a really nice camper so I would still love to get them out in a tent and roughing it a bit more. Just enjoying the outdoors and all that is has to offer. Kudos to you.

Re: Camping with a toddler

OTC, old school allergy pills (the kind that make you sleepy) are handy to have on camping trips, as are earplugs (in case the crying toddler doesn't happen to be in your party).

Re: Camping with a toddler

Glen the friend vs. Joe the plumber<br>I read somewhere that John McCain mentioned "Joe the Plumber" 12 times during his final debate with that "other one" and Joe became an instant celebrity. Let the internet scrutiny begin, now that I've been mentioned 9 times in Kathleen Palmer's latest blog....the picture I did not take, of "Baby's first camping trip," is the one of daughter snuggled sleeping in her bag beside thermally clothed Mom in a woolen hat, ready to keep the elements of cold at bay for the evening. Snap. I guess I'll just keep that one locked in as a memory of the moment.
